The only reason that you wouldn’t want this phone is if you are one of those people who is technology resistant. If you only want your phone to send and receive phone calls, then this phone is probably a little much for you. The most obvious thing about iPhone 3G is that it is a 3G phone. This doesn’t mean 3 Gigabyte. This means that you can use it on AT&T’s 3G network. While it is faster, I must admit that some of these claims are a tad bit exaggerated. While it may not quite be as blazing as advertised, you should be pleasantly surprised with its capability. Another great thing about this phone is its integration with GPS technology to offer you some great maps. The phone comes with the Google Maps application built in and you can use it immediately. There isn’t an extra charge or anything for this. You just click on it and type in a location that you’re looking for. It can give you turn by turn directions or just show you the overhead view. You can even type in a vague search term like “pizza” and it will show you all of the pizza places that you are near. This is great when you’re in a new area, or one that you’re unfamiliar with. If you have to travel a lot for your job, this is a lifesaver.
The App store is also a stroke of genius in the iPhone. The App store is a place that you can go to download new apps directly to your phone quickly. These apps can solve a number of problems for you and entertain you as well. You’ll find games and so much more. Many of the apps are even free. You simply decide that you want it and click on it. In a matter of seconds, it’s on your phone.
Overall, the iPhone 3G is an easier to use version of its predecessor. It is well worth all of the hoopla surrounding it. If you’ve been trying to decide if you should get it or not, I would recommend that you bite the bullet and get it done.
